Publications New Zealand is New Zealand’s national bibliography. It contains descriptions of books, periodicals, films, music and other material published in New Zealand or with a significant New Zealand content.

Using Publications New Zealand you can generate your own reports in your area of interest. Go to http://publicationsnz.natlib.govt.nz, and click on Reports to open the Reports screen.

Here are some examples for you to try:

Topic 1: Recent publications about gardening

  1. In the ‘Keyword’ box enter the word: gardening
  2. In the ‘Years Published’ boxes choose: 2005 to 2008
  3. Don’t change/enter in the other boxes.
  4. Click on: Generate report

The resulting report will in PDF format and arranged by title.

Topic 2: All music by the composer David Farquhar (or other New Zealand composer of your choice)

  1. In the ‘Author/Creator’ box enter the words: farquhar david
  2. In the ‘Type’ box choose: music

The resulting report will in PDF format and arranged by title.

Topic 3: Everything added to Publications New Zealand from 13-19 October 2008 in the Dewey range 500 and 600.

  1. Make sure that everything is selected in the ‘Type’ field
  2. In the ‘Dewey Range’ box choose 500 Science and 600 Technology
  3. In the ‘Date added to Publications NZ’ boxes choose: 13 Oct 2008 to 19 Oct 2008

  5. Don’t change/enter in the other boxes.
  6. Click on: Generate report

The resulting report will in PDF format and arranged by Dewey classification.

Note: This report will include some items published prior to 2008. If you want items that were published in 2008 (as well as being added to Publications New Zealand from 13-19 October 2008) you will need to enter 2008 in both the ‘Years Published’ boxes.
